Reopening of the Union Hall

Brothers and Sisters,

Union Hall is now open as of June 14th, 2021. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines until further notice. Please wear a mask when entering the building. Dispatch and out of work list will go back to regular business. All Journeymen and Apprentices must report to the Union Hall to add their name on the list. Apprentices must report to the Union hall for check in at least twice per week and sign out by 9:30am.

Dispatch hours are from 7:00am to 9:30am

Vacation Checks & Direct Deposit

The Field Ironworker Trust is offering the option of direct deposit for your vacation check!

Reporting an Accident or Disability Status

If you become disabled, you must immediately obtain a Disability Certificate form from the Union Hall. The form must be completed by your Doctor and return to Union Hall for processing. Your Hour Bank can be “frozen” and a Disability extension will be given on the first of the month, following the actual date of your disability.

Ironworkers handle multiple crafts with confidence and an emphasis on safety.

Local 229 provides the best-trained craftspeople in structural, reinforcing and ornamental ironwork, as well as rigging, metal buildings and machinery moving. Their projects cover a geographic area that includes both San Diego and Imperial counties.

Out of Work?

To place your name on the out of work list, you must come in to sign the out of work list. Journeymen should email info@local229.org to maintain their name/number on the out of work list.

Apprentices must report to the hall at least two times per week to maintain their name on the out of work list. No check in’s by email.

Any active member requesting to be placed on the out-of-work list may sign in the Union Hall by 12:00 p.m., noon on Friday to add or maintain their position on the list.

Union Membership Meeting

If you would like to receive email notices from the union hall, please send us an email to info@local229.org to update your information. Due to COVID-19, eligible members who would like to attend will able to join via Ring Central. 

Next Union Meeting: Thursday September 9, 2021. This meeting will be conducted in the Union Hall parking lot at 6pm.
